TRADES NL PARTNERS WITH THE GATHERING PLACE – Assisting Those Less Fortunate

December 21, 2020 – Trades NL, representing unionized skilled trade workers in Newfoundland and Labrador, is continuing its partnership with The Gathering Place to assist those less fortunate.  Today, Trades NL delivered a $30,000 cheque to help those that are in need at this time of the year.

“While our own members are experiencing challenging times, we recognize the needs at The Gathering Place are continuing to grow, so we are pleased that our members continue to find a way to assist those around us. Our men and women have a long history of supporting the most vulnerable people around us, and will continue our support as long as possible.”

The Gathering Place is a Community Health Centre committed to building community, promoting equity and providing food, clothing, medical and dental help, and counselling services to vulnerable individuals in our community. Since Covid-19, the number of guests visiting The Gathering Place has been increasing daily.  Thousands of people visit weekly, most dealing with addictions, mental illness and abuse.

“Unionized skilled trade workers in our province have some of the biggest hearts in Newfoundland and Labrador.  When people are in need, our members step up to the plate to help their brothers, sisters and people around them. Over the past four years, Trades NL has assisted visitors to The Gathering Place with over $127,000.”

Trades NL is an umbrella labour organization which promotes and coordinates the interests of 16 building and construction trades unions, representing more than 18,000 skilled trades workers in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador.
