Trades NL Supporting Families Affected by Hurricane Fiona with $5,000 Donation

For Immediate Release:

September 29th, 2022 – On behalf of their 18,000+ members, Trades NL will be donating $5,000 to The Salvation Army: Channel-Port-Aux Basques to aid in Hurricane Fiona relief efforts. The Salvation Army: Channel-Port-Aux Basques has organized several teams to operate in the southwest coast area of Newfoundland and Labrador where Hurricane Fiona had the largest impact, directly supporting that region of the province with essential services.

Hurricane Fiona made landfall on September 24th – with many families and communities continuing to face the distressing impacts of intense rain, powerful winds and extensive flooding brought on by the historic storm.

“It’s been gut-wrenching to watch the devastation created by Hurricane Fiona,” says Trades NL’s Executive Director, Darin King. “This donation serves to support not only today’s vital emergency services, but also the continued recovery and resiliency efforts that are needed to rebuild communities in the months to come. Our membership recognizes how important it is to support our local communities and we stand by those affected by this catastrophic event – continuing to keep them in our thoughts and well wishes.”

If you would like to donate to The Salvation Army: Channel-Port-Aux Basques donations can be made online, or by calling 1-800-SAL-ARMY.
