For Immediate Release:
September 5th, 2022 – Today, Trades NL observes Labour Day 2022, acknowledging the hardworking members of the Newfoundland and Labrador Building Trades Industry.
Celebrated every year on the first Monday in September, Labour Day stands as a reminder to everyone of the progress that has been made over the last 150 years – as it continues to encourage the worker movement in the fight for fair wages and safer workplaces.
“Today, we give our appreciation to the first labour pioneers and pay tribute to the achievements of our members and their outstanding work – work that directly supports communities and families across our province,” says Trades NL’s Executive Director, Darin King. “Marking an extremely important day for our membership, Labour Day highlights the benefits of unionized work, with the understanding that we must continue to advance workers’ rights and advocate for further positive change throughout our industry. It is our hope that citizens across Newfoundland and Labrador will join us in celebrating members of the building trades and the contributions they continue to make to our province.”
