Trades NL Launches “TAKE ACTION” Website and Campaign – Encourages Skilled Trade Workers to Engage with Candidates During 2021 Federal Election

For Immediate Release:

August 26th, 2021 – As thousands of workers face both the recovery of the construction industry and the upcoming decision of who to vote for in the 2021 Federal Election – Trades NL is launching a Federal Election Engagement Campaign to encourage members to stay informed, stay engaged and vote for a federal candidate representative that will have the best interest of tradespeople in mind during their political decision making.

Through it’s Federal Election Engagement Campaign, Trades NL aims to build awareness around the issues tradespeople are currently facing in the province through a variety of digital and traditional methods.

“Election campaigns provide a great opportunity for voters to influence political candidates and affect change. We are encouraging our trades workers to become active with their local candidates during this Federal Election, and raise the issues important to them and our industry. We look forward to seeing both our membership and political candidates become engaged in conversation about the issues that matter most during this campaign so that we can create an effective dialogue and garner positive results for the economic driver that is our industry.”

John Leonard, President, Trades NL

On September 14th, Trades NL will host a Virtual Federal Election Public Forum, an online public forum where federal candidates have the opportunity to hear from trades workers and address issues that are most important to them, their families and communities.

Trades NL encourages everyone to attend the session so that they can have the opportunity to hear directly from candidates.

“The purpose of this campaign is to “Take Action” and we encourage both members and political candidates to do just that – to take action on the subjects that matter most to the tradespeople of this province. We call on all federal candidates to ensure NL tradespeople, their families and their communities feel their voices are heard and, ultimately, ensure they are strongly represented at the federal government level if elected.”
