Trades NL Donates $5,000 to Canadian Red Cross in Aid of Ukraine Humanitarian Crisis Appeal

For Immediate Release

March 31, 2022 – A $5,000 donation has been made on behalf of Trades NL’s 18,000+ members to aid the Canadian Red Cross in response to the mounting humanitarian crisis in Ukraine. As a neutral and impartial organization, the Red Cross has unique access to providing humanitarian assistance to people affected both in Ukraine and surrounding countries.

“We are all watching the events unfold in Eastern Europe with incredible sadness,” says Trades NL’s Executive Director, Darin King. “Humanitarian aid is a critical lifeline to so many right now and our membership is proud to relieve some of the growing humanitarian needs felt by delivering urgent assistance, including food, health care, and shelter. Our members continue to think of the families affected and hope that peace will soon be restored to the region.”

“Donations to the Ukraine Humanitarian Crisis Appeal are being used to provide medical supplies, food, water, clothing, shelter, first aid and psychosocial support and other aid to civilians in Ukraine and others who have sought refuge from the conflict by crossing into surrounding countries,” said Rhonda Kenney, Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Director, Canadian Red Cross. “To date, Red Cross teams throughout the region have directly supported more than a million Ukrainian children and adults.”
