Trades NL Awards $18,000 in Education School Grants to Fund School Initiatives in NL

For Immediate Release

February 15th, 2023  – Trades NL, representing over 15,000 unionized skilled trade workers across Newfoundland and Labrador are providing $18,000 in Education School Grants under their Community Giving Programs to NL schools. The grants support initiatives that enhance student programming, resources & equipment – aiming to positively impact school-aged children and the communities in which both they and Trades NL members reside as neighbours, friends and family.

“The applications we received for this grant were outstanding and show a real commitment from educators towards children in this province and quality education,” says Trades NL’s Executive Director, Darin King. “From upgrading skilled trades classrooms with better equipment to enhancing physical activity through indoor interactive digital playgrounds, there were so many interesting initiatives presented and our members are excited to see how these funds will positively impact learning and inspire students. We look forward to highlighting some of our recipients and their initiatives in the near future.”

Over the last decade, Trades NL members have donated over $20 Million to various organizations, proudly demonstrating that when our women and men are working, they are giving back to our society.
