July 2, 2024 – Trades NL is proud to announce that it has received the prestigious Canadian Building Diversity Award for Community Benefits Coalition from the Toronto Community Benefits Network. The award recognizes an organization that is making extraordinary efforts to ensure underrepresented groups are accessing jobs and opportunities in construction.
“We are very pleased with this award and extend our gratitude to Executive Director Darin King for his leadership on this initiative,” says Tom Woodford, President at Trades NL. “Darin continues to advocate for local community benefits including local hiring, the inclusion of women, Indigenous peoples along with other underrepresented groups in the construction industry and benefits for local communities. The entire staff has worked tirelessly to support and advocate for this direction, and we are thrilled to see their efforts recognized. Our council of business managers remains committed to this vision for a more inclusive industry and continues to work alongside our staff to champion these efforts.”
