For Immediate Release
November 18th, 2022 – This week observed the 25th anniversary of the Hibernia Oil Platform, an offshore production platform located at the Hibernia oil field, 315 km from St. John’s – marking a significant milestone of first oil for the province of Newfoundland and Labrador back in 1997.
“We are thrilled to celebrate this very momentous anniversary,” said Trades NL’s Executive Director, Darin King. “For Trades NL Members, Hibernia’s 25th birthday is more than just a proud moment – it’s a benchmark for achievement, showcasing their continued commitment to high safety, productivity, training and diversity levels. It’s the project that gave breath to future projects, setting and exceeding a standard of excellence for those that would follow such as Hebron, and the Terra Nova & SeaRose FPSO’s. On behalf of Trades NL, I extend congratulations to everyone who played a part in getting the Hibernia Project literally off the ground, and to those who continue to make it a success.”
“As we look back on the past 25 years of Hibernia, it’s time now to look to the future – using those same skillsets to build the Bay du Nord project right here in NL,” Continued King. “From subsea work to fabricating and installing topsides, our workforce is ready and able to bring new projects, like Bay du Nord, to life – and do it like nobody else can.”
