Trades NL Contributes $120,000 to School Lunch Association

Trades NL announced today that it will make a 4-year, $120,000 contribution on behalf of its members to support the School Lunch Association. Executive Director Darin King joined with Trades NL members and Ken Hopkins, Executive Director of the School Lunch Association, to make the announcement.

“Our board recognizes that Children with increased access to complete, hot and healthy food exhibit some very positive results, and are provided a better opportunity to excel in school.”

This contribution will assist The School Lunch Association serve approximately 5,400 meals per day to 30 Schools across the North-East Avalon.

“For 28 years the School Lunch Association has been providing nutritious meals to local school children & Trades NL has been a tremendous supporter of ours. Recently, the demand for the School Lunch program has grown substantially. Support from Trades NL has meant we have been able to expand the program to new schools, increasing the number of children who have access to the program.”

Trades NL is an umbrella labour organization which promotes and coordinates the interests of 16 building and construction trades unions, their international affiliates, and more than 15,000 trades workers in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador.
