Trades NL Continues Commitment to Valuable Community Partners

When members from the Building Trades of Newfoundland and Labrador are working, they continue to give back in a big way.  Recently, Trades NL delivered on their multi-year commitment with five organizations to continue funding for social programs that will improve the lives of children, sick people and those less fortunate.

“Our working women and men have big hearts with a big social conscious.  When they are working, they are committed to poverty reduction, our youth, education, health care and social justice.”

  • Darin King, Executive Director, Trades NL

Trades NL announced $114,500 to support the following organizations:

Daffodil Place/Canadian Cancer Society

Ronald McDonald House

Kids Eat Smart Foundation

School Lunch Association

The Gathering Place

“Our Council recognizes the valuable contribution that these organization are making to our community and Province.  We also recognize the hard work it takes by many volunteers to offer these social programs to improve people’s quality of life every day.”

  • John Leonard, President, Trades NL

In January, Trades NL will be launching their 2019 Partnership Program that will provide three categories of funding: School Grants; Community Grants; and Health/Wellness Grants.  These open programs will be an opportunity to provide funding all across Newfoundland and Labrador, in communities that our members call home.

Trades NL is an umbrella labor organization which promotes and coordinates the interests of 16 building and construction trades unions, their international affiliates, and more than 15,000 trades workers in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador.
