Kids Eat Smart to receive $120,000 from NL Building Trades Council

The Newfoundland Labrador Building Trades Council announced a partnership, this morning, with Kids Eat Smart, committing a 4-year contribution of $120,000 to support their ongoing programs in schools. The announcement was made by union representatives during breakfast at St. Edwards’ Elementary, Kelligrews.

“Our board has been supporting Kids Eat Smart for a number of years, and we are pleased to renew that commitment for a further 4-yrear period. Too often many children go to school hungry, and this has a direct negative effect on their ability to learn. We are happy to support Kids Eat Smart in attempting to address this issue.”

– Darin King, Executive Director, NL Building Trades Council

Kids Eat Smart is a provincial organization that supports the education, health, and well-being of school age children in Newfoundland and Labrador through nutrition programs run by volunteers at schools and community centres. Currently there are 240 Kids Eat Smart Clubs operating with the assistance of 6,000 volunteers who serve over 22,000 meals every school day

“I congratulate the many volunteers who make this program a success… without them it would never be possible.”
