Trades NL is launching a NEW safety training course to our members on working in construction during COVID-19. This course will provide up-to-date information to help with the prevention and control of this infectious disease in the construction sector.

The topics being explored include:

rules governing rotational and out-of-province workers;
safely working at industrial and commercial sites including sharing equipment;
demonstrations of the dos and don’ts of handwashing, mask use, disinfecting, etc.;
safe ways to commute and carpool to work; and,
supports for mental health.

The course will include real-life examples of measures being taken to prevent the spread of this disease on construction sites in Newfoundland and Labrador. Trades NL will deliver this course using in-class and online delivery. The course will be about 5 hours including breaks and lunch will be provided. Delivery is expected between February and November 2021.

This course is being offered at no charge and to make it easier for members, it will be delivered in various communities once interest is known. COVID-19 safety precautions will be implemented. This does not replace the training offered by employers or by workers’ compensation such as the skillspass COVID-19 Work Safe Course.
